I Love Candlesticks, I Really, Really Do

I love candle sticks, all kinds, shapes, sizes, colors, and ages. I have a small collection which is an assortment of vintage, handmade, reproduction, glass, metal, thrift store treasure, and funky. I love them all.

This is my newest favorite. I bought it from a thrift store last week with the idea of selling it, but I've decided I want it.

Here are two I purchased when I was into all things Shabby Chic. I never have gotten around to painting them and I need to do that.

These were a gift when I worked in a crafts mall. They look heavy, but are light weight and have a rough texture on the outside. Actually they look like they were in a fire....I loved them from the moment I saw them. Not old, just funky and fun.

The candlestick with the green base is vintage and one of my favorites, while the Shabby Chic looking one is a reproduction.

This odd assortment is from my last thrift shop trip.  I'm not sure what metal the large one is, but it's a cheapy reproduction. I just thought it looked great with the group.  The other four are glass and nothing special, just add a nice touch.

As you can see, I'm a not "purist" in my collecting, but then I'm not a purist in any of my collections.  I love a nice eclectic mix. Besides, a nice eclectic mix is affordable and much more interesting than a "perfect" collection.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a very special day.

When Industrial Meets Modern.....

Something spectacular happens!

I was wandering through Etsy the other night putting items that caught my eye into my favorites file...I love to go look at all of them as a group and see if anything POPS!

Well when industrial decor items sit next to modern decor items....things POP!

I love the clean lines of each of these items, wouldn't they look great in a home?

Please click on each of the shops featured to visit the item and click here to view the treasury...

Undiscovered Shops

Ah, the thrill of the first sale, the view counts climbing higher and higher each day.  All your hard work is beginning to pay off.

Do you have your own business?  Do you remember those feelings and emotions running through you?  Wondering when that first sale will come?

Today, I wanted to share just a few “undiscovered” shops from some various marketplaces around town.  (okay, from the internet)  Today I’ll feature a couple of shops from Artfire, Etsy and Zibbet.  So click on their shop names, go wander around their shops a bit, and share the links with your friends.  Who knows, maybe their first sale will come from one of YOU!!!

Tomato Harvest Recipe

I'm ready for Fall, cooler weather and fresh vegetables. I know it's not even September yet, but the kids are back in school today so that's close enough for me.  Here's my first recipe of the season:

White Bean Tomato Salad

1 can of Cannellini, Navy or Great Northern beans, rinsed and drained

2 beautiful tomatoes, diced

2 T. olive oil

1 t. lemon juice

2 t. white wine vinegar

1 t. minced garlic or shallot

Salt and pepper to taste

(You could substitute bottled Italian dressing for a quick meal)

Gently mix the beans and tomatoes together in a medium sized bowl. Stir together the next four ingredients in a small jar or bowl, then pour over tomatoes and beans. Mix gently and let sit for five minutes. Add salt and black pepper, then taste; if your beans do not have much salt you may find it needs more.

Serve with bread for a light supper.

Optional ingredients:

Diced fresh celery
Slivers of fresh basil leaves or a little chopped fresh parsley
A little grated Parmesan
A little feta cheese

Things that make my heart beat faster...

Every now and then I come across an item that makes my heart rate go up several beats per minute... And some day....well you most likely know the end of that phrase!

    Vintage Plaster Architectural Fragment

The serenity on the face of this architectural fragment makes me sigh with contentment, what a pleasure it would be to look at this every day.

Vintage Set of 7 Cast Iron Pins and Silvered Balls

We have sold vintage and antique miniature bowling sets for several years but I have never seen one like this before....I am afraid this would have to be a "keeper"...it would be wonderful no matter where it was displayed!

Lately, antique and vintage Industrial items have been tugging at my heart..just look at this amazing light.
           Large Industrial Flood Light
I am thinking this would have to be another "keeper"!

When I find items that combine storage with the Industrial look my heart rate really goes up...imagine all the treasures this unit would hold..
Something else I am partial too is baskets, old Industrial Storage baskets...like this one...
I could store lots of stuff in this basket!

Well, that is just about all my heart can stand for right now...what are some of the things that make your heart beat faster????
If you click on the name under each item you will be taken to the shop and the item :)
Have fun...
