SMALL FORMAT ART

Small format art is not an ACEO, although it is an offshoot of the art card.
I've done several art cards but prefer the small format art because there is more flexibility in the size, and you can use more variety in the surface you select.  Some surfaces create problems for the collector of ACEOs.

Small format art (SFA) offers mixed media, collage, and fiber art, as well as photographic, watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel original works.  One thing I like is that you don't find the prints of original work in the SFA area like you do with ACEO's.

Here are a few examples I found on Artfire, Zibbet, and Etsy. I hope you enjoy them, and maybe you will find one just right for your space.

PEARLS....Buttons That Is....

                                            AddVintage

Pearl, Pearlys or Mother-of-Pearl.... no matter what you call them they are beautiful examples of buttons made from shells! Both deep-sea shells and freshwater shells have been used, and still are, to make buttons but mother-of-pearl typically refers to deep-sea shell buttons.
Pearls are beautiful when undecorated, allowing the beautiful shell colorations to be the star but they can also be decorated in many ways...carved or cut designs, painted, stenciled, inlaid with other materials, or used to center a metal design.

Many people collect Pearl Buttons for their beauty and intricate designs, others use them to create new items, embellish their creations or accent their items for sale...

Frozen Charlotte

Ever since I was little, I loved dolls, especially small dolls. My mom even let me play with her bisque dollhouse dolls. Anytime I was given a new doll, it found a home in my dollhouse. Of course I liked the dolls that were jointed best, but….the frozen Charlottes were just too good to pass up.

They came in such tiny sizes. The smaller the better as far as I was concerned.

This link gives the history of frozen Charlotte;

There are hundreds of these tiny dolls still around, many of them have been damaged over the years. I have found that there are many artists that use these broken dolls and doll parts in their art.

Some use them in their steampunk jewelry;

Others use them in their mixed media/altered art.

I think this is just wonderful…these poor little dolls with such a sad story have been given new and wonderful lives.

Thankful

   There are plenty times throughout the year when we are all thankful for things, or we count our blessings. So I thought I would get a head start and not wait for Thanksgiving to share some really nice collages and altered art that express this sentiment or show the beauty of this time of year.
   These are done with several different techniques and mediums. If you click on the artist’s name you will be taken to their Etsy shops and you can read the description of their wonderful art work.
   Hope you enjoy the following…
