Nothing says cute and tacky like the vintage pink flamingo yard ornaments.....and I want a pair for my yard! They may be gaudy pink, tacky and plastic, but they are an icon. The pink flamingo was all the rage in the 1950's and no respectable front yard was without a pair.
However, the rage didn't stop at the front yard, the pink flamingo began showing up on dishes, mugs, shirts, ashtrays, clocks, lamps, and all manner of knik-knaks. I'm a true fan of this beautiful bird in all it's forms, even the cheap plastic ones. LOL
I think every respectable yard should still boast a pair of these little wonders...even if it's just to say, "Hi, I'm here and I'm fun!"
I hope you enjoyed your tour of my own little gallery of Irrepressible Pink Flamingos.

Love flamingo bird. Thanks for including my flamingo porcelain necklace. :)
Thanks, Linda, this is so cool! A hip collection of iconic boids - I love it!
this looks great - thanks
I LOVE this post! When a friend of mine moved into a posh gated community, I wanted to send him a pair of plastic flamingos but was told they won't allow them. sigh. I can't imagine why! LOL! Great post, Pepper!
Thank you Linda, love the theme! Childhood Florida memories!
Hmmm, I remember these....guess my picker will need to look for them....LOL!
When I read irrepressible, my brain read "irreplaceable". Guess it's the same idea though. I never had any, but they sure are a popular item. Nice post Pepper! :)
Love all flamingos large and small!
And I do admit to having a plastic pair... in my BACK yard.
Thanks so much for letting my ceramic figurines play with all their fine feathered friends here in your lovely blog :+)
