Herbies Great Adventure...

A while ago I introduced the new man in my life....his name is HERBIE, click on his name if you haven't met him yet :)

This past October we were preparing for a business/pleasure trip and Herbie overheard us talking about it!  Well he begged and pleaded for us to take him along....of course we said yes....

Even though we started out early in the morning, Herbie was so excited he would not sit quietly in the car...

Part of our fall trip tradition is to have small pumpkins on our car dash as we travel...a fun reminder as we look at the road ahead that fall has arrived :)

Needless to say, Herbie loved them...especially when he found out that he was taller than all of them....(He seems to have a slight complex about being short :( )

But business before pleasure (or so THEY say)...that meant setting up our space display for the antique show came first...
Initially Herbie was a big help....figuring out where each item showcased best...

Alas, once he discovered the vintage toys....he lost all interest in helping....

Have you ever tried to get a tiny little man to WORK once he has discovered toys that are just his size?   It is not an easy thing to do....
In all honesty, I just gave up and let him have fun :)

Once the show was over we took a road trip to Montana via Washington....when Herbie saw his first real lake he was enthralled...to the point of insisting he be taken from the car so he could get a closer look at the water....

I was a little worried that the birds flying overhead would think he was dinner since he was standing on the picnic table, but all went well and he was a happy little traveler.

We rushed to get to Montana because the weather report said SNOW was on the way...yep...it snowed...another 1st for the Herbster...out side we went so he could play in the snow...I think he did pretty well making a snow angel...what do you think?

Especially when you realize he came from the Las Vegas area and this was the first snowfall he had ever seen.

By the end of the trip Herbie was doing his happy dance....he had so much fun!
And so did we :)

Views From Our Truck Windows

We arrived home this evening after a 2 week  trip through California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana....want to see some of our favorite views from our truck windows?  The fall season is our best trip time of all!

The first thing we do is put pumpkins on our dashboard to celebrate the fall season of the year...they seem to set the perfect mood!

We drove from California to Montana but took pictures on the return trip and that is how we will show the trip to you, in reverse order...first up Libby, Montana....
A beautiful stream surrounded by mountains, pine trees and larches.....

or a close up of the trees....

From Montana we travel to the mountains of Idaho where rivers and farmland are tucked in the folds.

Traveling south on I95 takes us to the I90 west and into Spokane, Washington.....beautiful fall colors and a spectacular bridge over a river....incredible!

We love the look of this bridge but taking a photo of it from the window of a moving truck with cold wind blowing in was a challenge!

We turn south again in Ritzville, Washington and head down to Oregon, traveling along the Columbia River Gorge on the I84...heading West into the Portland, Oregon area....

about 30 miles out of Portland are the Multnomah Falls... luckily for us they have a big parking lot right in front of the falls....makes picture taking a lot easier....even in the poring rain!

Another turn south in the Portland area and another 300 miles of driving takes us into Northern California, and after about 100 miles we find Shasta Lake

More photos from the window of a moving truck....cold weather but beautiful scenery....

What a trip, we love the NorthWest portion of our great country....in any season...but Fall is really the best time of all...VE
