Oh, grow up

When I was younger, before I grew up, my parents' friends came for a visit with their young son. While they were here, my parents took us all to go visit farm that was nearby. The little boy could not get enough of the cows. He never saw anything so big.

On our way back to our house he announced that when he grew up he was going to be a green elephant.

The cows were big enough to him that he thought they were elephants and I am guessing he just liked the color green.

I believe he grew up to be a lawyer, but I wonder if he ever thinks of when he wanted to be a green elephant….

Four Leaf Clover

In Irish tradition the Shamrock or 3-leaf Clover represents the Holy Trinity: one leaf for the Father, one for the Son and one for the Holy Spirit. When a Shamrock is found with the fourth leaf, it represents God's Grace.

How many times have you found a four leaf clover? Have you ever looked down and just seen one right there, sitting in a patch of clover?

No matter how many times I find one I always pick it and save it. One can never have too much luck…

Even though I am only like a quarter percent Irish, I like St. Patrick’s Day.

Something about the day is magical, maybe because of the leprechauns.

My kids would come home from school with leprechaun traps and set them up in hopes of catching one. Somehow they always managed to escape but left evidence of them being there. The girls would come rushing in my room to show me the green sparkles the leprechauns left behind.

(Would have been nice if they left a token gold piece or two…..)
