I'm fascinated by these old buildings!  It always makes me happy to see them restored and not left to run down or just abandoned.  I'm sharing old gas stations this week!

Days Gone By!

Some times I wax nostalgic and look up web sites of things I remember from my past.  Remember drive-in's?  Soda fountains?  Phillip 66 gas stations?  *sigh*  Those were the good old days, where people weren't in such a hurry.  So, pull up your butterfly chair and relax!  (yes, I own a few butterfly chairs!)

In this post, I'd like to highlight a few of the web sites I like to view when I need to look back.

Any one remember Horn & Hardart automats?  I'm pretty sure it was the one we used to visit in Philadelphia when we went for visits and I loved it, especially the baked beans.  Don't ask me why I remember that.  But it was so neat to look into the little windows and see what the food looked like, then you put the money in the box and took what you wanted and moved down the row.   Horn & Hardart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Not many drive-in movies around anymore.  I sure remember them like it was yesterday, especially the night my boyfriend and I fell asleep at one.  Try explaining that to your mad Mother when you get home at 2 AM.  Drive-ins and Drive-in Movie Theatres at DriveinMovie.com

 

I can't help but to remember this great old movie theater I used to go to when I was young.  It's still there but all boarded up.  It seemed so grand, with a balcony and all the beautiful lights.  Lost Palaces: A Gallery of Old Movie Theatres and Cinemas   I remember they held a raffle once and my brother entered it, he won!  I'll never forget him coming home with a rooster.  LOL!

 

How many of you used to go bowling on Saturday night?  Do kids still go bowling?
